This trek holds a special place in the hearts of many, and in 2025, we had the chance to experience it firsthand during the serene winter season. 

Day 1: Embarking on the Journey

Our adventure began at the start of the New Year, when we set out from the picturesque lakeside city of Pokhara. With our backpacks packed and spirits high, we made our way to Nayapul, followed by a trek through Tikhedhunga and Ulleri. The trail gradually ascended, and after a rewarding day of walking through beautiful villages and lush forests, we reached Ghorepani at an altitude of 2,874 meters. This would be our first stop, and we settled in for the night, eagerly anticipating the adventure ahead.

Day 2: A Sunrise to Remember

The following morning, we woke up early and continued our ascent towards Poonhill at 3,210 meters. This early morning hike was worth every step, as we reached Poonhill just in time for one of the most breathtaking sunrises we’ve ever witnessed. The first rays of light painted the sky in hues of pink and orange, revealing a stunning view of the surrounding peaks—Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna, and Machapuchhre. As the sun rose higher, the snow-capped mountains seemed to come alive, casting long shadows and sparkling in the morning light. It was a truly magical experience that left us speechless, standing in awe of nature’s grandeur.

Day 3-4: Journey to Annapurna Base Camp

After soaking in the beauty of Poonhill, we set our sights on the ultimate destination—Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). The trek towards ABC was a mix of gentle inclines and thrilling descents, with well-maintained paths winding through dense rhododendron forests and lush valleys. We trekked with ease, thanks to the meticulously crafted stone steps that made the journey more comfortable.

Along the way, we passed small, welcoming villages with charming teahouses, where we could rest and refuel. The hospitality of the locals was heartwarming, and the cleanliness and comfort of the teahouses exceeded our expectations. The rooms were cozy, and after a long day of trekking, there was nothing better than a warm meal and a peaceful night’s sleep.

Day 5: Reaching the Majestic Annapurna Base Camp

On the fifth day, we reached Annapurna Base Camp. Standing at 4,130 meters, ABC offered an extraordinary 360-degree view of the surrounding snow-clad mountains. From here, the towering peaks of Annapurna I, Annapurna South, and Machapuchhre seemed so close that it felt as though we could touch them. The tranquility of the place, combined with the breathtaking views, created a sense of being in a paradise untouched by time. We spent the night at the base camp, feeling incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such natural beauty.

Day 6-7: Heading Back to Pokhara

The following morning, we reluctantly bid farewell to ABC and began our descent back towards Pokhara. As we made our way down, we reflected on the incredible experiences and memories we had gathered along the way. The trek was not only a physical challenge but a spiritual journey as well, reconnecting us with nature and providing a sense of inner peace.

By the seventh day, we were back in Pokhara, our hearts full of joy and our minds brimming with unforgettable moments from the trek. The journey had been physically demanding, yet immensely rewarding, and it was an experience we will cherish forever.
